This starts on April 27th 1945, when Mussolini and his mistress Claretta Petacci were caught trying to escape to Switzerland 🇨🇭 by some Italian partisans.
They slept in a farmhouse for the next day, execution day.
April the 28th:
Mussolini and his mistress are awakened at 7:30 AM. They are not told of their fate.
15 minutes later, Walter Audisio, a partisan commander comes into the farmhouse with instructions to kill the two. They are still not told of their execution.
8:10AM to 8:30 AM
After a talk with Walter Audisio, Mussolini and his mistress (who is clinging on to the Italian facist and crying) are escorted to a truck where they will be transported to their execution place, Guilino di Mezzegra a tiny village in northern Italy 🇮🇹.
8:32 AM
Mussolini and his mistress are ordered out of the truck. Mussolini stumbles lightly while walking while Claretta is clutching on to his coat begging to die with him (if he would get executed)
8:34 AM
The two are told of their fate and are declared enemies of the Italian people. Audisio (remember the partisan commander) prepares his MAS-38 (a French submarine gun.
8:37 AM
Mussolini pronounces his last words (shoot me in the chest) as the bullet is fired. Claretta pronounces HER last words (No, no , he is not to be shot while I am still alive and jumps in front of him, causing the bullet to strike her and Mussolini.
April 29th:
Mussolini’s body is displayed in Milan to humiliate him
